Breastfeeding

Freezing question.

I'm new to all of this and have lots of extra milk already piling up in my fridge.  I'm starting to freeze it as we aren't going through as much as I'm producing.  Can you freeze it right in the medela bottles that come with the pump or only freezer bags?  Thank you for the help!

Re: Freezing question.

  • They have bottles you can freeze in. I freeze in the bags or in a BM freezer tray and then transfer the milk to vacuum sealed freezer bags (reynolds).

  • BTW. If you have that much milk at 6 days you are probably over producing and should cut back just a little. Maybe take a min or two off each session.

  • Ditto the PPer, and Medela makes these 2.5oz tubes with lids that can attach right to the pump and you can freeze with.

It's cheaper and saves more space to use the Lansinoh bags.

(and yeah, if you are already freezing, as 6 days, cut back a little. You don't want a oversupply, just a little extra.)
