SAHM, Which pump?

I was wondering what pump do you have or did you register for? We are planning for me to be at home but I am planning to pump as needed (supply, husband bottle feed, nights out etc.) just maybe not on a daily basis. So, is an expensive one necessary? TIA!

Re: SAHM, Which pump?

  • I am a WAHM and used the Medela Harmony ($35) for just occasional bottles or to relieve engorgement or things like that. It was fine. I ended up borrowing a friend's PISA (bought new tubing) which is really nice to have when I go out of town without DD since it is just so much more efficient. But anyway, no, I wouldn't get an expensive one, it just won't be worth it.

  • I love my Medela PISA.  I had a manual one and it sucked - I dreaded pumping with it - and that is just for a few bottles to go out - my husband doesn't bottle feed and I don't pump for supply.
  • If you take a look at Baby Bargains you will see that Lansinoh Double Electric is affordable and rated well.  I'm a SAHM, but pumped for nights out, going to the gym, getting my haircut, etc.  Of course my DS ate all the time so it was necessary.  Plus we have done a couple overnights for a concert and stuff like that where I needed more.
