Is anyone baby-proofing their house for when baby 1st comes home? I was just wondering if that's something I should be doing now, or wait till the LO is a few months old.
2nd question is what did you do to baby-proof the house if you've already done it? TIA!
Re: Preparing house for baby...
Wait. Your house will look like baby prison soon enough, enjoy not having gates and locks and everything while you can. We didn't really need anything until DS started crawling, and even that was just gates at the stairs. The only thing I'd suggest having done before baby comes home is lowering the max temp of your hot water heater. I think they suggest 140. This is to make sure you never accidentally let the bath water get too hot and burn baby.
As far as what we've done: stair gates, door locks, cabinet locks, activating alarm system to beep when doors are opened (in case he attempts an escape), bathtub faucet cover, knobs removed from stove....I know there's more but that's all I can think of at the moment.
(read it. you know you want to.)
