I prayed this wouldnt happen.....and it did.

I am at my wits end here. This was my first week back to work after being off for 12 weeks. My DD is 3 mo. I have noticed that each day i get home from work DD would take a while to "warm up" to me. This shocked me because we bonded so well since birth and i kept her basically attached to my hip the whole 12 weeks. Tonight I have just hit my brick wall of frustration and guilt. Everytime I go to cuddle her or pick her up she screams and cries like never before. What is going on here? I feel like she doesnt know me anymore or doesnt want to be around me anymore. I feel like total garbage and so depressed. What have I done? Why is she acting like this? what a horrible way to ring in the new year.

  • Oh no!  I don't really have any advice, but I can imagine how awful you feel!  I am guessing that as she gets used to you being gone and then returning, she will stop her screaming.  Don't feel guilty, you are doing what you have to do and I am sure she will come around.  Just continue to enjoy and cuddle her once you get home.

  • Oh, hon! I bet you money it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with her schedule changes. The only way she knows how to express this frustration is by crying. She probably just needs extra cuddles (and probably rest, too, from being stimulated in new ways at day care). Don't be so hard on yourself, because I bet within a week or so she'll be back to her normal happy self. You're her momma, and NO ONE can replace you.
