3rd Trimester

January mamas

Are you changing your W4 exemptions right away (or at all)?  DH and I have always withheld at the higher single rate but it would be nice to have a little extra in his paycheck each month but I fear owing big time!

I haven't run the numbers yet, but I'm just curious what everyone else is doing.

Re: January mamas

  • This is #2, but we're not planning to change anything until I decide if I'm going to work part time or quit completely (not until this summer at the earliest). I'd rather get $$ back in 2011 for withholding more...I'm weird but it feels like a bonus :)
  • We have full custody of DH's 9 year old son but DH claims single with no dependents until we do taxes.   We will do the same with Colin.   That extra big tax check helps us get caught up on bills after Christmas, plus we do renovations, ect with it.   We even put money down to make yearly payments on stuff, when we have enough.

  • Currently we don't get a refund usually. Last year we got $800 though. Woo hoo!
  • We're keeping it the same.

  • We never changed ours with Olivia and very thankful bc the big check every year is awesome!  And we won't change it when I have Marlowe on the 11th.
  • Those of you with kids already who get refunds...how many exemptions do you claim?
  • We haven't discussed this yet, but we probably won't be changing anything. I'd rather get a refund, we really rely on that at times.
