Toddlers: 24 Months+

Crib to bed suggestions/opinions needed

We're moving K out of the nursery that's off our room and into her own full-fleged bedroom in the next week or 2. She's fine in her crib (when she actually sleeps in there), no attempts to climb out at all. We have the Babi Italia Pinehurst crib that can be used with a $70 toddler bed rail or converted to a full-sized bed.

My dilemma is this: should I just leave well-enough alone and keep her in the actual crib until an issue presents itself OR get the toddler rail OR just move to a bed at a later point. She still sleeps in there like a ping-pong ball, so just going to a regular bed isn't the best idea now and I'm leary f speding $70 on something that may be a complete flop or become obsolete in a few months.

Re: Crib to bed suggestions/opinions needed

  • How old is your adorable DD?  I'd say if she's happy and not climbing out, let it be as there's no rush.  The  only reason we moved DD into another room and into a bed is that I'm expecting and didn't want too many transitions at once for her.  I'd move the crib into the room and then transition later, however, if you're DD is a tough transitioner, it may be best to do the 'ol band-aid method and change the room plus the bed all in one shot.  Depends on the kiddo and the circumstance, I guess.

toss crib mattress on floor. zero $, easy to put back if it's a flop.

  • I would leave well enough alone until K gets older.

  • I say do it all at once.  One big transition.  I switched DD- I put the toddler bed in her room with the crib to get her used to seeing it, but the night it was assembled, she ran and hopped in the big girl bed- never looked back.  May be easier to do BEFORE she hits a naughty streak/problem- then it's not a punishment or reward for undesired behavior.  Good luck!
