LO's with acid reflux please come in!!!

Our LO is on prilosec with reflux, we started it on christmas ( almost a week ago) and she seems like she is more comfortable but still arches her back during feedings and is not eating as much as she normally does. She constantly has her hands in her mouth too ( i think she is teething, but that's a whole other story). Anyway, my DH puts her to bed everynight around 9, feeds her, reads, rocks, puts her down, etc. Well, last night she just cried and cried for about 3 hours straight. We actually went for a car ride around midnight because didnt know what else to do. Long story short, she fell asleep in the car seat and I just kept her there and she slept from 1:30 until 9:30 ( her normal 8 hours she gets), but the question is, does your LO still cry at night for reflux? She doesn't cry at all during the day...it's just at night. Just trying to figure this one out! Thanks and any help or advice woud be appreciated!

Re: LO's with acid reflux please come in!!!

  • 1) we use a slanted wedge for his reflux, breathing, and preventative for a flat head and it's the cushy one and he sleeps much better with it.

    2) try and feed her upright or as much as you can. The pedi also said try stretching out feedings instead of a whole bottle all at once.

    Hope this helps you out!

  • Sounds like she might need a stronger dosage.  Our LO was soo much better after the first 3 days on pepcid and then it got way worse than it ever was.  Now we're on Zantac and after 2 days his symptoms were almost completely gone.

  • If she is still arching her back during feedings, it sounds like the medicine is not relieving all of her symptoms. Also, some ladies have elevated the head of the crib. The elevation helps keep some of the acid from creeping up their throats while they are lying flat. I would probably call my pedi if it was my baby.
