First, I realize that this is another one of those things that wouldn't do anything unless the baby is ready, but I was just wondering...

Is it the sperm that causes the labor to start (because of whatever it does to the cervix) or is it the contractions caused by having an orgasm?

Both.

The hormones in the semen can cause your cervix to ripen, and having an orgasm can cause the uterus to contract and get things going.

From what I remember, there is a hormone in the semen that helps the cervix ripen. But the contractions probably help, too.

I have heard that the sperm softens the cervix to make it ready for labor. The very thought of attempting this right now makes me tired,lol. Good luck! Let us know if it works! (might be worth the effort if it does)

Then again, I had my LO's B2B so that probably had something to do with it too! LOL.

I was also told this too.

Just came back from my appointment today and the doc ordered me to have sex.  He said it was the protein in the sperm that gets things moving.
