Am I having contractions?

Geez... I couldn't sleep well at all last night, which I attributed to the chili I ate! But- I am having these cramping type pains in my lower abdomen that have been coming and going since 6 this morning. Sometimes 12 minutes, sometimes 8 minutes, but they keep coming and going. At my appointment on Tues., there was absolutely no progress though, so is it possible to go from nothing to contractions in just a few days? Maybe that is a stupid question, but I am just debating on whether to call my parents, who are 8 hours away. They said to call when anything was happening, but I don't want them to drive all the way down here and it just be false labor or BH or something. I will call my Dr. when they open if they continue to keep happening... I just feel clueless right now!

Me too...They woke me up about 5:30 am..i have been having BH for months now so i didn't think anything to much of it, but they kept coming and coming and coming..it was actually quite painful..I took a hot bath and that seemed to help..I told dh to get the bag out of dd's room so I could get it packed..he was in kinda a panic.."is it time"..no..I don't think so, but i do have a doc appt. at 10 am and I want to go ahead and have it packed in case..I will follow this to see what other bumpies have to say

Yup. Those sound like contractions - especially if they are painful/uncomfortable.

How funny... I was the same this morning. You think it's the full moon???

It must be b/c of the full moon and lunear eclipse. I started having contractions yesterday afternoon and they lasted all night. They were around 6 to 7 minutes apart but then I would not have any for 30 minutes. I also took a bath and it helped alot. But once I got out, they started again. I too have a doctors appt at noon so hopefully I have made some more progress. I was 1 cm and 30% effaced at my last appt.
