Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I feel like such a bad mommy. Kinda long.

DS has his third double ear infection.  His left ear started draining some greenish drainaige so I took him back to the pedi on Monday and he gave us a different antibiotic to try.  Monday night he was up every hour of the night.  Throwing up from the ear infection and diarrhea from the antibiotics.  Last night was the same, but he was starting to get really hungry.  He can keep down the pedialyte pretty well, but formula is a no go.  His little butt is raw and he's generally getting tired of feeling bad I think.

Tonight I came home from work and my husband is throwing up and has diarrhea.  While I'm holding my screaming son I looked over at him and said, "I don't think I can do this by myself tonight."  and his reply was "Well, Baby, what do you want me to do about it?"

Long story short, I just sent my sick baby boy home with MIL for the night.  I feel terrible for giving him up especially when he's sick and needs his mommy, but I seriously didn't know what else to do.  Now I'm wishing I hadn't sent him...as DH is laying on the couch beside me smelling like puke and groaning.

  • Not bad. If you know you can't do it, then get some help!  That is just what you did, like any other GOOD mom would do.  I hope everyone feels better soon.

    This. {{HUGS}}

  • Don't feel bad at all.  Take the time to get some rest (if you can with DH sick) and you'll be better able to take care of DS tomorrow.  You've been through a long road with DS being sick for so long and a night to recharge a little will do you good.
  • I know you wish you hadn't sent him but it may have been for the best. It's getting him out of the germs so he doesn't get it again. Plus letting both of you get some rest.  Your MIL might be able to keep up with his needs better because she's not sick or feeling bad or taking care of someone else that's sick.

    it will be okay. Just get a good night sleep so you are ready for him tomorrow.

  • Thanks you guys.  I think I'm going to go to bed now.   Good night ladies.
