Recommend your baby gate

This is the area in our basement that we need a gate for

We want to put the gate from that wall on the left that is part of the stairs across to the other side.  This is what we've been doing up until now:

This has worked for awhile because Noah was scared of that gate and wouldn't ever go near it.  Well...he's not afraid anymore, and will now move it and try to crawl up the stairs.  We want to keep the gate here, rather than at the bottom of the stairs because we don't want him to have access to the room there with the tile floor.  That's our dogs room and we don't like to close the door because it starts to smell!  Yuck!

Any suggestions??  I hate that gate we have now because I can't get it tight enough and I hate stepping over it all the time.  So we'd like something with a door or something that can swing open.  It's also fine if we have to mount it.  Also it's about a 3ft space if that makes a difference.

Re: Recommend your baby gate

  • I would buy a tall swing gate for that area.

I LOVE this gate.  LINKY  It is lightweight and will not damage your wall, but is taller than the pressure mount gates that are available.

  • It's so funny how much opinions differ!  I was going to say to get anything but that Evenflo gate!  My not-horribly-strong nephew busted through the one at their house, and Allison has hung on ours enough that it makes a horrendous nails-on-a-chalkboard noise when you open it.  I guess my family just has bad luck with that gate!
