Okay, so I am not yet breastfeeding again (pregnant with second child)... But, I ebf'd dd until 13 months. My MIL came from the generation that was advised by ped's that bf'ing is not worth it. She was completely against me bf'ing dd - even went to buying formula just in case I wanted to change my mind. Whenever we were over her house I would have to go into a spare bedroom to nurse - she didn't want it around her even if I had a wrap.
Well, we were recently over her house to exchange gifts. My dd is now nearly 3 years old. She'll talk your ear off, has a better memory than most adults I know, and is just, well, sharp as a knife. She catches on to things really fast.
I was complaining about how my vitamins are still making me sick - even though I am about 18 weeks into pregnancy number 2. I was complaining about how hard it will be to nurse with my very active preschooler. I was just in a down kind of mood - and being around her negativity never helps matters.
Well, MIL quickly jumped in with POSITIVE words. She said not to worry - it will work out and it is all worth it... She said that all my hard work with Audrey has paid off... How I took care of myself and dedicated all that time and effort to nursing her and now she is super smart and super healthy.
Wow. Not at all what I expected. I made me feel so good, though. I always knew this - but having something like that come from her was just, well... I don't even have words!
