Up all night....suggestions

So my dd usually gets a bath, she plays for a little while, we read her a book, give her a bottle, and then at 10:30 I bring her upstairs and sing to her and put her in her crib drowsy sing a little more and she usually is asleep by 11pm and sleeps till about 8am.  Well last night she would not go to sleep at all.  Finally fell asleep at 12:30am only to wake up again at 2:00 and we gave her a bottle but could not get her into her crib.....every time we would put her in her crib even if she was totally asleep for 15 mins or so she would wake up screaming right away including when we started trying to put her to sleep in the beginning of the night.  Finally she fell back asleep.  I have been dealing with the wakeful but she still would go to sleep at her bedtime even if she woke a few times during the night.  I don't know if she is teething, but I am exhausted....any thoughts?  sorry so long.

Re: Up all night....suggestions

  • The pedi suggested that we dive DS Tylenol a half hour before bedtime for the teething.  This really allowed him to relax, stop chewing his hands and get into the good REM sleep.  Usually signs of teething are the chewing, drooling, sometimes a slight fever, diaper rash and loose stools.  She could be teething, it's about that age.  Good luck!  I know how lack of sleep makes you feel like a crazy person, but this too shall pass!

  • Any chance of an ear infection? This is DS behavior when he gets one. It hurts them to lay down.
