Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Teething symptoms around 3 months?

I'm wondering if my DD is showing early signs of teething?  She will be 3 months old in a week.

She is drooling a lot, and constantly chewing on her hands or fingers.. but she has also "found" her hands in general.

I do feel bumps under her gums, but I imagine I'd be able to find them anyway?

The other thing I wonder about is she will gnaw her hands frantically but then refuse the bottle, so that's what had me thinking - she's not giving me hunger cues, but teething instead?

(FYI - my older DD didn't cut her first tooth until 7 months!)

Re: Teething symptoms around 3 months?

  • Totally possible. My DD started teething around 2 months--lots of drooling, voracious gnawing of the hands, etc. Pedi said it could take a month or two for the first teeth to actually break through though.
    Dear Bump: You suck.

  • DS started doing this about a month before his first two teeth broke through.

  • Mine has not been able to keep his hands out of his mouth for over a month now...no actual teeth yet, but we have had a couple of days/nights where he was definitely feeling some pain more recently. It's entirely possible.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • DS has been teething since 3mo, no teeth in sight yet though. Pedi said gums are swollen but they are not coming through soon, it could take up to 2 months from when they start.

  • audrey started showing symptoms right around 3 months, too. shittay!
  • It could be!

My doctor said 3mths is right around the time they find their hands very interesting (more so then toys) and they keep their hands in their mouth a lot.  They also have excessive drool/spit at that time too.
