DH and I have been moving towards putting our house up for sale in January or February. I'm getting nervous, though, that we either won't get what we want in the current market (although our house has greatly appreciated since we bought it) or that we'll sell and I'll have to pack and move when I'm like 8 months pregnant. Additionally, it makes it hard for me to do things like set up the baby's room (paint, etc) if we don't know if we're staying. WWYD? Should we put the house up for sale before the baby's born or wait till summer after the baby's here but at a better time to sell?
Re: WWYD - sell or stay?
We love where we live, but DH has a commute for the first time in 10 years and it takes him at least 45 minutes each way. Additionally, we'd like to get into something bigger. This was meant to be a starter home, but we've been here now for almost 8 years. We also have a 2nd mortgage on this home, so we either need to stay and refinance or sell and pay it off.
I would list it and see if you get any bites. If it doesn't sell pull it until the summer or until you are ready (after the baby). I will tell you it was not easy moving while pregnant and I was only a few months along.
We decided to rented our townhouse and moved in with my in-laws for a while. We decided to make the move for a few reasons. One was that it was only a one bedroom, another is that we had two dogs and you can only have one, and another is that I am not working and my DH took a major pay cut to start a new career.
