Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seat - NE1?

I posted a day or so ago that my DS has been wiggling so much in his Fisher Price Whale of a Tub that he's slipping over the infant seat and into the water. He cannot sit unassisted yet.

So I've been looking for an other option in the bath tub and this looked interested. It has generally positive reviews but I wondered if anyone here has this. And, if so, what do you think?

Re: Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seat - NE1?

  • We had the exact same problem about 2 weeks ago.  I purchased the Safety 1st bath seat and DS HATED it.  We tried it several times hoping he would get used to it, and he screamed every.single.time.  FWIW, he is also unable to sit unassisted and the seat says it is only for babies that are ABLE to sit unassisted... so maybe that's why.  He was able to sit in it ok and didn't slide down or anything, but he hated it.

Another flaw I found with it is that the thing around the top makes it very difficult (if not impossible) for DS to splash.  He loves bath time and has recently learned to spash and loves it, so being unable to do so didn't help.

We tried several solutions to our problem of DS sliding over the seat and into the water of the whale tub too.  The only thing we have found to work was to take something (we used a towel) and put it under the large part of the whale.... like where LOs feet would be.  This tilts it back far enough that he no longer went over the little green hump and into the water.

GL!  Sorry that was so long!

  • My DD is not able to sit by herself yet and we just bought this same seat and my DD loves it I just have to let her lean over the front so that she can play with her toys.  It has made bathtime so much easier because she always wants to sit up.

  • For that same problem i purshased at Target the munchkin bath "sponge" I put that in the tub and then sit him on that and it works.  Or i fold it in half and do the the thing as PP.

  • I have the tubside bath seat. DD is not sitting unassisted but the reclining bath seat was not working for her anymore. The tubside thing is not great but we bath her quickly and it works okay. The problems I have with it are that it has sharp edges and leaves red marks on baby, it is hard to wash her little lady parts and it is so big that she kinda flops from front to back of the sea. HTH!!
  • Thanks for your replies.  Looks like I'll save myself the money and figure something else out.

I'm just getting worried about DS's safety while taking a bath. He LOVES splashing and kicking?that's why he slides down?and I don't want him to miss out on his bath time enjoyment.
