3rd Trimester

It bothers me when...

Other ladies (most have been at my work) see me waddling around and comment that they had been "cross-country skiing right up until I had my baby. I was in such great shape" Or, "I was roller-blading the day I went into labor with my son." I got those two today. Or others who've commented that they were doing all these active and daring things right up until they had their child. What do I say? Well good for  you!

I don't know if people are trying to show off or what, but just because I'm not roller-blading around the office while 9 months pregnant doesn't mean I'm lazy. Maybe I'm just tired and cranky, but anyone else get comments like this from other women that annoy them?

Re: It bothers me when...

  • I completely hear you on this one!! I have this one co-irker who is always telling me how she was walking 2 miles a day all the way up until she delivered. The same one who says she never got any heartburn, or backaches, or ANYTHING. Ok I'm happy for you (who am I kidding no I'm not). She also only gained 12 lbs, supposedly, and was not overweight to start. If any and all that is true, you'd think she'd have enough common sense to STFU. And this same chick had the nerve to come by my desk today and micromanage me when we are on the SAME level. She got an earful in an email from me to say the least. lol

  • I would start by mentioning that I wouldn't know how I could live with myself if I feel and something happened to the baby.   I slipped a few weeks ago and had spotting the next day.  It was the scariest morning ever.  They were very lucky.

    Hang in there!

  • That would bug me too! What bothers me are the ones who say, "oh, I only gained 1 lb my entire pregnancy" or the ones who instantly shrink to nothing after birth. But that's just jealousy speaking :)

  • Yes it is annoying because everyone is different. Screw those rollerblading, cross country skiing loons! Plus you can't rollerblade or ski in the office.
  • Oh yeah, the comments are finally toning down now that I am 8 months pregnant and my size isn't considered such an anomaly.  But I have gotten sick, specifically of this one chick at work, who always has some sort of comment, the latest "Geez, I don't know if you are going to make it through the shift." and I asked in an irritated tone, "Now why would you say that" and she replied, "Because you look like you are going to blow up!"  Oh I could just punch her in the throat.  And yes, I have heard from the wonderful people who love to mention how they only gained 12 pounds...blah blah blah.. well you know what! I am not a genetic freak, and i have gained my fair share of poundage, just like my mother did and her mother did!  Sh*t happens and poop occurs! Phew, that felt good.

Wow, she would drive me nuts! I think half of these comments are completely bogus, and if they are true I really want to say something like, "Wow, you were really putting your child at risk by roller-blading/skiing/only gaining 12 pounds the whole pregnancy/etc! Probably not a good idea!"

  • What jerks!!!

If it makes you feel any better, I can barely walk, dh has to help me stand up, and when my hip is really bothering me, I not only waddle, I waddle with a limp.  Those women who were "skiing" and "roller-blading" are either full of sh*t or they're just d*** lucky!!!

  • I had a bad limp due to right hip pain for 2-3 weeks just before Christmas and people in the office now think it's acceptable to say 'wobble wobble' as I walk past and I am feeling 100% better now, I think it's incredibly rude.  I also get referred to as prego or twins...and I am NOT having twins nor do I look like I am having twins ugh...  A lady at my church tells me every Sunday that I am so huge and this baby is coming early...I just hit 30 weeks give me a break!
