Im looking for some recommendations on a good baby book, something to help you understand, when to do things, what to expect, etc.
My SIL bought me one for Christmas and I have opened it a few times and everything I have read I COMPLETELY disagree with.... im not surprised because I completely disagree with her parenting style and this was her favorite books....
So what do you like and why???
Re: Book recommendations please
Please dont take offense to this if you love this book.. its just not me... but she got me "The Baby Book" Dr. Sears.
no offense taken at all. i have a very "to each his own" mentality on parenting. that just tells me that there are a few others you may not like (same sort of ideas on parenting). i haven't read it, but i have a friend who loves and swears by Babywise.
i tend to agree with some of the stuff in "attachment parenting" but find some of it to be absolute BS. i think the important thing to remember when reading ANY parenting book is to use what works for you and throw out the rest.
"Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth was really good.
I read this before DD was born. If you actually have time to read a book now, I am jealous!

I really like Baby 411 it answers all of my feeding, milestone, medical questions. That is my go to when I have questions about that type of thing.
As far as regular baby books I like what to expect the first year. I didn't like what to expect when you are expecting, but I do like the first year book.
oh yeah, i forgot about the WTE book-i really like that one!
I have & like hshhc & wte the first year.
I like Happiest Baby on the Block, which is more for newborns, but there are still some things in it I use to soothe DD. I also like WTE the first year and the no cry sleep solution. My husband read The Baby Whisperer and liked it. I'm not a fan of CIO, so I don't like HCHHC or Babywise.
I do like Dr. Sears's books b/c he explains the pros and cons of each of the methods he suggests. I don't agree with everything about attachment parenting, but not all his books are about that, and I can usually find something to use in all of them.
