Need help finding south end hair stylist!

mine moved to Alabama :( Would love to find one in Puyallup... but Tacoma is not completely out of question if someone amazing is there :) I really want someone who is good with suggestions and visualizing cuts with face shapes/features, etc...Also need some highlights...

I have thought about Gene Juarez but it is so pricey...anyone been to a Gene Juarez and did you think it was worth it??

Re: Need help finding south end hair stylist!

  • I see William at Gene Juarez and he's sooooo worth the $65!  The cuts he gave me grow out great, so I only need a cut like 2x a year.  Last time I gave him total freedom and loved the cut!

so he is good about offering suggestions based on face shape and such? I have a longer narrow face and prominent nose... I always get pretty much the same boring long cut and need a change but am scared and want something flattering... thanks!!

  • DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE!!!! the best place to have your hair cut is pepper's salon (behind the mall next to tacoma boys)! you will love it! see kim. i've gone there for a million years and everyone i refer still goes to her too!
  • that sounded mean but i was just trying to be funny! :) she really is the best though! haha
  • I go to Armoni at GJ in the Puyallup Mall. She has always done a great job, but last time she went a little over board. I blame it on her pregnancy brain, and she should be back from maternity leave by now.

haha thanks! I was actually looking at their website! That is rEALLY close to my house so enticing... the thing I don't like about Gene Juarez (other than price) is it kind of bugs me that you have to have a different person cut and color...

  • I am SUPER picky about hair stylists and went to the same one for 10 years before she left for New York...so sad :(  Anyway, I just tried Missy at the Puyallup/South Hill Gene Juarez and I LOVED her!  She has an 18 month old and understood my need for a flexible haircut.  She took a lot of time studying my face and asking questions about my lifestyle.  I have naturally wavy hair, but I like to straighten it too.  I felt she was worth every dollar I spent on her and she used to be a teacher at the advanced training salon downtown until she had her son.

that sounds a lot like what I am looking for...I also have naturally wavy hair and straighten it because I can never get it to look right wavy... hmm - if you don't mind me asking, how much was she? they have such a range there it seems... thanks!

  • My sis is awesome.  She does hair on the side and she'll come to you.  Sheena on here is a stylist too!
  • I go to Lindsey at Tacoma GJ. Love love love her. I never have to tell her exactly what to do with my hair. She only asks me about the length and then she takes care of making the layers and everything look good.

I had a gift card...so I don't exactly remember but she was $60 or $65.  I wish I could find someone cheaper who I like cutting my hair, but I only get it cut 2-3 times a year and I have to like it everyday (that is how I justify it to myself).

  • Thanks for all the suggestions ladies -I think I will try Kim at Peppers if she is available in the next week and see how that goes this time - more in my price range right now I think :)
  • Let us know how it goes...I may be in the market for a cheaper option too!

  • Salon Escape was also recommended to me via facebook friends...I might try them first because they are a little closer but mainly because their highlights are a lot less $$.
  • I LOVE my hairstylist, she is downtown Puyallup at Studio 210 her name is Kristen.  She's having a baby anytime now though (due Jan 15th-ish I think) and then I think she'll be gone about 8 weeks or so .. GL ! :)

Funny - another friend of mine loves her too. I actually went to he ronce right after DD is born... when I asked for suggestions though she didn't seem very confident and didn't have any so it didn't really fit what I was looking for. My friend LOVES her though - but she always knows exactly what she wants and isn't looking for suggestions :) Exciting she is having a baby!!

what a small world :) Yeah, I haven't really ever asked for suggestions, so not sure how she would do with that.  I usually just do the same thing everytime .. although I'm thinking before baby is born I need to do something with it and she'll prob still be gone ..so I may try someone else there .... :)

their website says they have a referral program...do you want me to give them your name or anything? I need a cut in the next week so the only way I am not going to her is if she is booked up when I need it. We leave for Maui next week and I want a new haircut to go with :) Thanks again! Will let you know how it goes!

Ok I made an appt for next Wednesday afternoon! Going to be a crazy day cause we leave early the next morning for Maui but she was all booked up before then. I'm excited :) Also they said if I saw you before the appt and you gave me a referral card or something you would get a $10gift cert for referring me...I told them I would likely not see you (since I don't know you haha) but maybe you can call and get the credit still not sure? Thanks for the referral - I'm excited to see how it goes!

ok - gave them your name but they still said you need a referral card to give me or something so maybe you should call them and see if they can make an exception or something :) $10 off is a sweet little referral gift :)
