so- planning to tell my mom and dad tonight!

You'd think being marred for over two years I wouldn't be scared but I am! DH had the hard job of asking for my hand in marriage so I've never actually sprang anything significant on my folks...

I fabric painted "I love my grandma GG" and I love my granddaddy" on 2 different onsies and I have wrapped them up as anniversary presents for them... anyone have any interesting stories from when they told people?

We are only a few weeks but if something happened I would want my folks to know. We are waiting to tell DH's parents until after the first Dr. appt and then everyone else in at about 10-12 weeks.

  • No interesting stories here, but wanted to say Congratulations and I am sure your parents will be ecstatic about the news!!!  :)
  • Congrats and have fun! We told our families last Christmas by putting a picture of the positive PG test in a card. We also gave a sibling the heads up beforehand so they could take pics as we told our parents. It was priceless. If you can get someone to document their reactions - you'll be so glad you did!

  • Yeah!! Have fun! We told our families over Christmas and everyone screamed, cried, jumped up and down, etc.....  Anyway you tell them will be great:)
  • Kellen told my parents that he was going to be a big brother.
  • We gave each of our parents "I love grandma" and "I love grandpa" bibs.

We told them a couple weeks before Father's day. Since we hadn't gotten our mothers anything, we said it was a late Mother's Day present and an early Father's day present. They were estatic when they opened them up.

I had just found out on a Friday, and we told them on a Monday. It was hard keeping it a secret that long. Plus if something happened, we wanted them to be there for support.

  • One of the cutest ideas I've heard is to get the group together for a picture (that you or your DH takes) and instead of going 'Say cheese!' you go 'Say Suzie's pregnant!'  That way you can snap a picture of the initial shocked faces!

    Have fun!

  • How exciting! I'm sure they'll be super excited. For some reason I was really nervous about telling my dad. He was so happy though.

My mom said, 'that's great, I need to go feed my cats and take the trash out'. So it has to go better than that Smile

  • We did the "I Love My Grandma" onsies at Christmas last year.  It was great, everyone hugged and cried.  Good luck tonight - they will be sooo excited.
