Pregnant after a Loss

anyone else lose a bunch of weight in the 1st tri?

I am down almost 10 pounds now....and am starting to get  a little concerned.....especially since the m/s is not constant anymore. I dont see my OB until 1/6 for the very 1st time ( i have been seen by her RN at 9wks)

Just wondering what you dr told you about it if anything?

  • I lost about 5lbs. I have gained it back plus about 3 more lbs but that's all. My OB hasn't been concered about it at all. The baby is taking what they need from you. Just think those crazy girls on 'I didn't know I was pregnant" don't gain any weight and have heathy babies.

  • I lost 10 lb's my 1st tri. When I asked my Dr. about it his response was.." I didn't even look at your weight. I don't care about weight as long as the baby is healthy." I think its pretty common to lose weight your 1st tri.
  • I lost 12 lbs, back up about 1 lb and no problem so far.

I was on metformin in beginning which made me run to bathroom more often then not.  But I have been sitting at same weight since 1st tri with no issues about weight.  I was overweight to begin with so I think that was why it didnt matter so much.

  • I only lost 3 pounds, but like the pp said the baby will take the nutrients from your body that it needs. Hopefully things turn around for you shortly on their own!!

  • I only lost 2 lbs, but don't worry about the LO. As long as you're eating regularly and taking your PNV, your baby will take everything it needs from you.

  • I lost almost 20 at one point.  I'm finally (just now) up 2 pounds over my original weight.  I was overweight to begin with, and m/s really kicked my butt - then, I think I was just much better at eating healthy!

My CNM has never been concerned.  I'm hoping I'm like my mom, who lost 2 dress sizes with every baby she had!!

  • I definitely have NOT lost any weight, but have to admit, it would be nice if I did.  lol.  I'm just happy that baby is healthy, but a lack of m/s and my parents' incredible cooking is keeping me at current weight (or more) from here on out.

  • I lost 5 by wk 14 in this pg, but have already gained it back.  I lost 10lbs in the first tri with DD, and then went on to gain 50 Embarrassed.  Both times my Doc was concerned and prescribed diclectin for the nausea and made me feel bad about it.  I think they focus too much on the numbers though, DD and this LO have been measuring big all along, and my weight fluctuates with bloating alot in 1st tri, and once I hit 13 wks that disappears which I think contributes to the lbs dropping.
  • I lost 10 lbs.  I still havent gained any weight. but my belly has gotten bigger. I had m/s so that helped with the shedding of lbs and i started to eat a lot better. My doc isnt concerned. He said he bets i gain the 10 back next time I see hime 1/26.
