Pregnant after a Loss

Petite ladies - Question about maternity clothes

When did you start buying/ordering clothes if you knew they would have to be altered?  I'm barely 5 feet tall, so I know all of my pants will need altered, and I want to make sure I leave myself enough time to have the alterations done.

I lost about 10 lbs pre-pregnancy, so my pants are still fitting fine since they were loose before, but they are getting tight at the end of the day.  I have a bella band that I can use to stretch how long I can wear them.

Re: Petite ladies - Question about maternity clothes

  • I bought my pants as I needed them, but I hem my pants myself generally. The only thing I can't do is jeans. Also, remember they will sit higher as you grow and allow for that when you get them hemmed.

  • Also, there are petite lines in some maternity stores. It's worth a try to see if these will work for you.

  • I had some friends pass down their pants but I honestly only bought if I loved them and they were on sale.  I really liked Target's black slacks and gap maternity for all other pants.

  • I was in maternity pants by 12 -13 weeks.  I got them all from either Motherhood.com or JCPennys.com and I ordered them in petite size.  They did not need to be altered at all.

    P.S.- I'm 5' flat

  • I got all my pants from Motherhood and just got petite sized. Haven't had to alter any of them and I'm 5' tall! Also a friend of mine gave me a pair of maternity jeans from Old Navy that fit perfect as well. I think as long as you go with the petite size, you should be ok. GL!

  • Motherhood Maternity petite pants with the secret fit full panel have worked out great for me.  I'm 5' 2" with shorter legs than torso, so we may have similar dimensions.

No way to guess how long you have until the transition, so I recommend getting at least one pair of pants soon so that you have an in-between solution while you're waiting for alterations (if you need them).

    Congratulations, and enjoy your pregnancy!
