Babies: 9 - 12 Months

?? for moms of 9-10 month olds who FF

Lately Eli has been only finishing 6-7oz of his 8oz bottle.  He usually gets 3 8oz bottles a day.  He has also been downing 5 of the Gerber 3.5oz containers a day plus crackers, rice cereal at 2 feedings, cheese and a few other things.  How much formula does your 9-10 month old take in?  Should I start to see a decrease now that he is taking in more solids?

TIA!

    This!

My DS usually has between 20-24 oz of formula a day.

  • Not quite 9 months yet but...

G usually gets 4 8 oz bottles a day. We're lucky if he takes 6 oz per bottle. I still offer the full 8 though because sometimes he surprises me. It's getting harder and harder to get 24 ozs in him. Some days it's more like 20. He eats two meals a day (two tablespoons of oatmeal (dry measurement) and a serving of fruit in the morning, veggie and fruit for lunch).

So far, that seems to be enough but I will probably add a dinner in there soon as it seems we may be dropping to three bottles in the near future they way he is going.

  • I give him 4 - 8 oz bottles per day, but most of the time he only drinks 6 or 7 oz of each one.  He eats 3 meals a day, usually oatmeal cereal and a container of fruit at breakfast, 2 containers at lunch and 2 containers at dinner.  I think that they are probably just adjusting formula intake because of the increase in solids.  If he doesn't eat as much solids a day, I notice he will finish the full 8 oz.

  • She was taking 24oz per day -  (4) 6 oz bottles.  But this past week she has been ill with a combo of teething and ear infection/cold and will often times only take 2-3 oz per bottle.  She eats three meals a day and a snack or two, but wasn't eating much either.  She seems to be getting her appetite back now that she feels a little better.
  • Mine gets 2 6oz bottles during the day and then 8oz before bed, for a total of 20oz. That's the recommended amount (give or take) for that age. She also gets 3 real meals and some snacks.
  • We're lucky if DD takes 3 full 8 oz. bottles a day. Usually it's more like 2 8 oz. bottles and then the last one is usually split up between breakfast and bedtime. She really is not a big eater. She gets 3 meals a day too - fruit and cereal for breakfast, fruit, veggies and meat for lunch, fruit, veggies, meat and cereal for dinner. But she barely eats the meat.

  • I'm thrilled when we get 16oz in her for the day.  She is offered 4 - 6oz bottles and we fight through every feeding.  She takes the first two-three oz like a champ then just quits.  She tries to wiggle away, turns her head from side to side, pushed the bottle away and pitches a fit.  The pedi said to try and get 4oz out of each bottle and maintain our current solid amounts (they are on the small size). She won't drink out of a sippy cup.  I can't wait to be done with bottles!  2 1/2 more months...can't come soon enough!

  • Hm.  DD usually takes six 6 oz bottles in 24 hours!  She has five during waking hours, and one overnight.  She usually finishes all or almost all of them.  She's not big on solids.  She gets 1-2 meals per day of oatmeal and fruit or veggie and puffs, but she rarely finishes a meal.
