Babies: 9 - 12 Months

puffs and finger foods

Did anyones lo not like them? Dd is 7 months and 6 days. I tried giving her puffs that we put in her stocking and she was not having it! She turned her nose and spit it out.

I'm going to keep doing purees and try again in a week with the puffs.

At what point are you supposed to start the finger foods?

Thanks!

Re: puffs and finger foods

  • At first he wanted nothing to do with the puffs - we do the happybaby organic puffs. I gave him some every day to try and then one day he liked them. I think it's something you just have to keep doing (not with just puffs but any finger food - DS loves his purees but we just keep putting the steamed baby carrots out for him, banana slices, etc and finally he has started to eat them).

  • DD has been getting puffs since 6 months old. She has always liked them. Madison refuses purees anymore, so I feed her finger foods (chunks of peaches, pears, banana, carrots, sweet potatoes and sweet peas). I also just started giving her cherrios too, and she loves those.
  • DD loved the Apple Cinnamon Puffs from Gerber, I haven't tried any other brand of puffs.
  • We started with Puffs at 6 months or so. DS didn't want anything to do with them at first either. We tried a different flavor and he seemed to like that better. Now there's not much of an issue, so far he's had apple cinnamon, peach (not his favorite), and sweet potato. I just bought wagon wheels and he's also had Cheerios, which I break in half.
  • IMO, it seems a bit early for puffs and finger foods.  I'm not even thinking about starting them now.  I have to go slow with my DD though due to a family history of allergies.  I probably won't introduce the puffs for another couple of months.

  • We started putting them on her tray probably about 2 weeks ago. It took her about a week to actually eat one. Now she loves them and I put them out while I'm making her food. We tried some potato on Thanksgiving and she wasn't having it but she did take some potato pieces from MIL on Christmas so I'll try again.
