Apparently if you google "gifts to give someone who's pregnant after a miscarraige" the #1 answer is the doppler. I got 3 (count em' 3!) in my stockings. I always thought they'd make me crazy & I was right. There is no HB I can find. I'm wigging out. Is my baby alive? FFS!! I knew it would make me be this way. I was making progress & this has set me back many many steps. I'm scared shiitless now. Ugh!

Re: I knew it! I knew it! FFS!
I wasn't able to find the heartbeat until 11w at home. Try to relax and just try again later. I found that the more I tried when I was still early, the harder the baby would hide. Also, for next time, full bladder and empty colon help.
Do you really have 3 stockings??? lol

My doctor couldn't find Harper on his professional doppler until 12 weeks.... it is totally normal. THIS is why I said I wouldn't send you one until after 12 weeks. Give DH the dopplers. Have him hide them... only use them after 12 weeks... most people can't find hb's until 11 weeks plus....
message Jacquie if you need reassurance... I believe she had a similar trouble.. and has a healthy baby covered in super glue....

2IF does not always equal 3IF...Surprise!
My OB could hardly even manage to find the baby's HB at 12 weeks with the Doppler - it's not always easy! At first he was hiding behind some of my arteries that blocked the sound, and then he was moving around so much she had trouble finding him. So it really shouldn't worry you too much.
I got an inkling of how tricky the Doppler is (I've never had one) at my 34 week appt. A student attempted to find the baby's HB but couldn't... at that point, he's like 6 lbs and definitely moving, and she had a really hard time!
I would call my doctor's office and see if they can bring you in for a quick check. My doctor knew I had one, and told me if I ever could not find the HB to call and they would bring me in for a quick scan. I never had to, but for mental health.... I would call and tell them what happened and that you are upset.
I had a home dopler with the twins, and heard at 10 weeks.... but my uterus was bigger than it would be with a single baby. Remember your uterus doesn't pop out of your pelvis until closer to 12 weeks.... so your pelvis can be blocking baby.

I get mine via UPS next week. I heard some people even have trouble until 14 weeks.
Someone said to try laying on your stomach for 5-10 min then try the doppler. Sorry you are having trouble. Baby is just being stubborn.

Oh, hon, it'll be okay! Yes- step away from the dopplers! I can't believe they all gave you one- I know they meant well, but yikes. And FYI, I was also one of the ones who wasn't able to hear the h/b until 13.5 wks. My OB tried at the 10 wk appt. and knew I'd freak if she couldn't find it so she snuck me in for an u/s. Totally healthy baby in there. It'll be okay. And if you're emotional right now, there's nothing wrong with that. It's an anxious time and sometimes it helps to just get the tears out. But hopefully you'll feel better soon!
Step away from the doppler! My doc couldn't even find the baby on her doppler last week at my 13w appointment, but baby was kicking away on the u/s. I'm sure everything is fine!
It is early! We couldn't find it at 10 weeks. I know everyone has said that, but you may have to wait a few weeks, or you could find it tomorrow. In the mean time, the things I found that helped were:
Lots of gel
My boy was super super low, didn't expect him to be down so far, but he was constantly below my "panty-line"
Your placenta makes a wooshing sound, I always tried to find that first and knew the heartbeat would be nearby
Good luck!
You are fine- step away from the dopplers!
Babies are good hiders, and I'm sure your baby is following in your footsteps and being nice and ornery.
Wait a while and try again - and when you do, lay on the floor instead of the couch/bed. That helped me.
Good luck, mama! I'm sure everything's fine.
Oh, please try not to worry (easier said than done) I couldn't hear my son Dylan's hb until I was over 14 weeks and now he's a healthy and happy 3 1/2 year old.
I just got a doppler last week and I hear the heatbeat, but it's VERY faint. I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow.
I'm sure everything is fine. It's really normal not to hear the hb on a doppler this early. In fact, at my 11 week OB appt, she didn't even try w/a doppler, she just checked me w/an ultrasound.
((( HUGS ))))
I've been going back and forth over getting a doppler and I don't think I'm going to for this reason. Don't give yourself unnecessary worry!!
When I went in for my 14 week apt with my son we couldn't find him with the medical doppler. Did a quick u/s and there he was, happy as can be. . . and I'm a very skinny gal . . . Just don't let it get you down! (I know, easier said than done. Anyway doc can slip you in for a quick appt to reassure you?)
