How do you get anything done?

Little missy doens't want me out of her sight long. She wont sit in the bumbo long, and we have hard wood so I don't want to put the playmat down on the floor, I NEED to clean. Oh and I can't wear her long because it just doesn't work, I need ideas. Violet works for about 10 min increments! tia!

  • get a really fun mobile for her crib with lights and music or something to look at and let her play in there for a bit...we do this and we also just got a kick pad for the crib that LO plays with in there..is hooks to the end of the crib and when they kick it it plays music and lights up. With the two of these things, DS will play in there for about 10-20 minutes usually. GL!

  • I'm only able to clean during nap time.
  • My DS plays on our floor all the time and we have hard wood we started with tummy time and have worked up to being able to sit.  Sometimes I put him in his highchair to play while I do dishes.  If my DH is home one of us cleans while the other plays and when my DH isn't home and DS is having no part of individual play I wait until nap time.
  • I got a walker.  He follows me around the house while I clean and he can't get into anything.  It has wheels on it so if she can't push herself yet, you can at least roll it around easily with you!

  • House keeper.  Just for a about 6 months until she can walk.  It is just not worth it at this age to try to clean.  I have two, and I didn't get one with my 1st one, but it was a mistake. So much better and it only cost about $800 for that time. Alternately, you could have your DH take the baby out for a couple of hours on the weekend and get as much done as your can.
  • I clean every other weekend in the morning so DH takes Jacob for a few hours. They stay in the house and he's napping for a portion of it, so DH helps me out during that time. Sadly, we schedule it. I also vacuum at night when Jacob is sleeping -- with the dog and the snow I need to keep up with that. And I wipe down the bathrooms and kitchen regularly.
  • The jumperoo, exercauser, and high chair have been a wonderful way to entertain baby for a bit while I get things done around the house.
  • yeah i hear ya! i usually put her in the highchair when im trying to clean up the kitchen and will either wear her or hold her when i vaccum... shes a really good girl when i need her to be.. seems like she knows when im trying to get something done lol

  • We cleared out our dining room, connected 2 superyard gates and made an area for DD to play in.  We've had it since she was about 6 months and it still keeps her entertained and contained for more than enough time to get things done around the house.

  • Grant plays well independently and I think really enjoys it - I find that when he does that is when he comes up with some new trick.

Why won't you put a play mat on the hard wood? It's soft on the bottom. I would sit her on the playmat, put a boppy behind if you are concerned about falling over, and give some toys.

At around the beginning of Grant's 7 months he would whine a bit when I would walk away from him - I would reassure him and then go about what I was doing. He might whine for a few minutes but worked through the emotion - part of what they are doing is learning about what reaction they get when they test out their emotions. So he did that for maybe a week or so (not with just me but with the nanny and DH too) and then he stopped.

    Good luck.

WOW!!  That is sooo nice - I'm jealous!  I wish we had room for that type of play area.

  • I do most of it during naps or after bed.  Nevermind that they don't want me to leave the room... I have to keep them from beating each other up too!
