DS temp spiked 103.2!!

I put colby down for a nap and when he woke up he was cry & when I picked him up & felt his face it was HOT. Checked his temp & it was 103.2! I put him in a warm bath gave him tylenol & gave him a bottle. His temp is going down but I called the dr & no one answered. Any advice? I hate that my lil man is sick!

  • poor little thing. K was 103.8 (after cooling down) when we finally got the doc to check her out and she ended up having the flu. I hope you hear back form the docs soon and if Colby gets any worse I would think urgent care...but thats just meEmbarrassed

  • 103.2 is a fever, not a high fever though. Something to watch. Fevers help the body fight off whatever the infection is. Our pedi wants a call and 103 and a face to face at 105. Before 104 they ask us to not medicate (unless in pain) or bathe to lower fever before 104 either. It can cause a chill and interfere with the purpose of the fever. So unless he is in pain I would not medicate. If I did I would see how a half a dose does. If you are giving Tylenol you need to make sure he is extra hydrated because it is hard on the kidneys. If you give formula, make with clear pedialyte. C had pneumoia for 10 months. We did this whole song and dance for many months.
  • Ditto JAR.  103 is a fever but not a freak out fever.  If it comes down with tylenol and he seems ok (alert, etc) I would just try to keep him comfortable.
  • I bet cold hydration alone will bring the fever to 102.3 sans medication.

This...a fever isn't necessarily a bad thing..it means your baby's body is working right and fighting off an infection.  It should drop after a couple hours.  I wouldn't medicate either...
