Does anyone else find it odd

that my MIL has NEVER bought her new grandchild a gift? I have married her number 1 only son,which I am reminded of a lot. No shower gift, no just because Im so excited shes here gift, no christmas gift NOTHING. Yet she wonders why DD screams everytime I hand her over to her. What am I missing here?

That is odd. My parents didnt go crazy with crappy gifts that she will out grow but they did write her a check for her college fund!

So your DD cries because she hasn't received any presents from her grandmother? I don't believe that the showering of gifts is indicative of the amount someone cares about another person. Nor would I want to teach my DD that people only show their love through buying presents and you should expect them from people. It seems you don't like your MIL - maybe that's what your DD is picking up on when you hand her over.

FWIW, my mother has never bought DD a present...nothing, ever. I am her only, number one daughter. I don't stress about it. it's not what's important.

of course it has nothing to do with presents! Its the negative energy. Both sides. I don't deny that.
