What Christmas traditions do you plan on starting this year?

I am such a sap for traditions. Today I got a book about them from Barnes & Noble.  I like the pajama tradition, as well as, when I was a kid on Christmas morning my mom & dad would light this candle thing that would chime. As soon as I heard the chimes I knew it was time to go downstairs and open gifts. I would have my ear pressed to the door dying to run downstairs!

  • On Christmas Eve we're going to visit the trees that were planted for our twins that died and we're tying ribbons on them. That's the only real tradition I plan to start so far.

  • We plan on pretty much always keeping Christmas morning to ourselves as a family.  Everyone else can wait to see us till afternoon.

What a beautiful tradition, schmoodle.  ::hugs::

  • we have SOOOO many!  We unwrap our xmas pjs on christmas eve, read The Night Before Christmas, then Christmas morning, we do stockings, then snacks, the presents.  Each person has one wrapping paper.  So my sis's gifts would all be in green with red stripes and mine would all be in red with trees and none of them have tags so we don't know whose is whose until my Dad starts passing them out (keeps us from snooping too much!).  I plan on doing pretty much all of these things with my family now.  I love Christmas!
  • I LOVE the idea of the Swedish angel chime!

I love this idea! If we have more than one kid I'm totally doing this!

  • I also love creating new traditions!! DD's b-day is tomorrow, so there are a ton. of things I want to do! A special b-day breakfast, grandparents and aunts/uncles are coming over tomorrow night for a spaghetti dinner...on Christmas morning we always have a huge breakfast, but this year we get to make a big deal about DD walking out of her room, down the hall and around the corner to see all the presents!! That's probably what I'm looking forward to the most :)

  • I do the wrapping paper thing! I order at school from Sallie Foster for a  fundraiser each October! So fun! This years theme is blue, Santas for Julia, snowmen for Caroline, snowflakes for Mom and reindeer for DH.
  • We do the pjs on christmas eve with my family, we each draw a name and then we exchange pjs. DH's parents told him from a young age there was no santa, and i'm afraid they'll do it to dd too. so we decided to cut them off. instead of santa gifts dd is getting 3 gifts from the wise men just like baby jesus. then she'll get one big present from us.
