Pregnant after a Loss

I'm going to be pregnant forever

Just had an appointment with my OB and in spite of being only 2 days from my EDD I'm still only fingertip dilated and 70% effaced, which is exactly where I've been for the last 2 weeks.  Thankfully the baby is doing well and seems to be very happy in there... I guess he's a little too comfortable because he doesn't seem to want to come out!  I know it's not rational, but I'm really just feeling like he's NEVER going to be born!  At least I can relax and know that he's probably not going to have his birthday on Christmas.

  • Speaking as someone whose due date was Christmas Day and was born on New Years Eve, keep that baby in you for as long as possible to get him as far away from Christmas as you possibly can.  And threaten the lives of people who give your son birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper.  Even as a little kid, it's tough to be treated as an afterthought.

I am the same way, I was due on Dec. 21 and was born Jan. 1st. I have always been glad I was overdue. Now I make a point to buy special Birthday gifts for my nephew who was born Dec. 23rd because I know how much I hated combo gifts!
