Best gift as a kid

When I was about twelve, I had this one Christmas that was awesome.  My dad took me to the pet store and bought me a turtle and the whole set up for it.  I loved that turtle (he stank really bad and my mom made me get rid of him like a year later Sad).  Then, when my sister and I got dropped off at home, my mom and step-dad had bought us both new daybeds with new bedding.  It was awesome.  Our beds had been old and plain, these were well suited to us.

What is the best gift or gifts you remember as a kid?

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.

  • There were so many I'm not sure if I could choose just one.  My parents always picked out great gifts.  I'd say either my red scooter or my beautiful white desk with the desk set.  I remember being super excited about both of those.

  • I remember being super excited about a doll.  I had just seen her while we were visiting with Santa.   Now Mason has her as his baby doll.

  • I didn't get many gifts growing up being that my parents have 7 kids and never had a lot of disposable income. But I do remember one year my dad got me a ventriliquist dummy that I absolutely loved for the next year. I used to practice all the time with him. A few years ago, my parents brought it to a White Elephant gift exchange and it was a big hit :)
  • mine was a brand new bicycle i got from my dad one year. i tore open the huge box and there on the package was a big ugly red bike! (i was the biggest girly girl when i was younger so an ugly red boy bike was not going to cut it!) so i started crying that i didnt want an ugly red bike but when he opened the box it was hot pink and purlpe and i was SO EXCITED!!!
  • My cabbage patch kid in 1982.  Hands.down.  She was a preemie, smelled like baby powder, and I named her Gretchen.

  • Ditto on the cabbage patch kid. I got her when I was 8, I think. She was one of the one's with the "real" hair instead of yarn. Her name was Regina and I loved her so much. Can't wait to help make these kind of memories for my daughter!
