sort of.

We want to avoid the wedding hoopla.  I really want to marry her, and the rest is details. Though, I also want to see her in a wedding gown because she is STUNNING.  For her, the food is very important.  

My sister is also getting married this summer so we went with her this weekend and tried on dresses when my sister got measured.  It was sooo much fun! I posted pics of the dresses we like, unfortunately there isn't a dress shop within 60 miles that carries her dress - ugh.

Our plan is odd, but I think it will be fun.  My sister will host an engagement party at a really great restaurant in the North End.  We will greet the (fewer than 40) guests and enjoy a bit of the passed hors d'oeuvres then leave to get dressed.  My sister will make a welcome toast, announce to the guests that we are getting married that night, and the waiters will bring out the chairs. Brief ceremony that I am excited to write.  Then an AMAZING meal with our favorite people.  There will be cake (I will post the pic) and a photographer will come for just a couple hours. I think it could be a lot of fun.  I also think we will save quite a bit of money without sacrificing what is important to us.

No proposal yet.  She keeps saying that she is going to say no, then she looks at more dresses.  

I really just haven't had the chance to propose yet.  I want to do a good job of it, but I have been insanely busy with lots of family stuff.

I LOVE it!  I wanted to do something similar when DH and I got married but he wanted it to be more traditional than a surprise wedding.

And I absolutely love the cake as well.  So pretty.

The best part of getting married, for us, was getting to plan an event that was unique to our style. I am glad you are doing the same. It sounds perfect!
