Back from our follow-up u/s and appt and here's what we found out:
Good news: The fluid on her scalp is gone and there is amniotic fluid in her tummy which means she is able to swallow some fluid. She's growing appropriately and now weighs 13 ozs. He also sees nothing wrong with her heart. Praise God for these positive changes!
Not so good news: The teratoma has grown some and seems to be more on the right side, and the fluid on her chest is still there. He is not completely sure it is fluid or if it is part of the mass. He is going to do a fetal mri, but he wants to wait probably another 2 months for that so they can better see where all the mass goes etc. The fluid that is in her chest is causing her heart to go more towards the right and is kind of smooshing in on her right lung. Her left lung has fluid in it. Both of these lung issues could cause her lungs not to develop fully so I am praying that the fluid will clear up there as it did in her scalp. There is a procedure they can do to remove the fluid from her lungs, and that will be discussed at a later date too. He is also going to do a microarray test which looks even deeper into her chromosomes I guess, as her chromosomes did come back normal, but this can help them even more. Thankfully they should be able to use the amniotic fluid they've already taken out.
We got some pics of our baby girl--we can see her face in some and I think she's beautiful. I feel awful for her that she is going through this and I thank God that He has a plan for her and that she is in His care.
It still at this point is a wait and see and pray situation. We go for a fetal echocardiogram January 27th and to meet with the perinatologist right after for the results. Would you please keep us in your prayers? Thanks ladies ![]()
Re: Baby Avery Update
I am very sorry to hear all that your family is going through, you know we will all be rooting for Avery!!
Good luck at the next appointment!!
I'm sorry you're having to go through this, but I'm encouraged by the positive news that the fluid on her scalp is gone and there's amniotic fluid in her tummy. And she sounds like she's growing great!
I'll keep you in my T&P! When I was up at 4 in the morning before my big u/s yesterday, I found it easier to pray for my PAL ladies than to think about my own worries. I said a special one for you and Avery. (((HUGS)))
Thoughts and prayers for you and little Avery. We have our perinatal appt this week so your posts help. Thank you for sharing.
