Do cookie sheets go bad?

the past two days Ive made cookies that are typically fool proof and they keep sticking.  This has never happened with these cookies before and I make them all the time.  

Im pretty sure its not my oven because they arent burning or anything.

Depending on what kind and how you use them, yes. Their finish can get worn off, they can get a film built up on them etc.

Parchment paper may help to preven sticking.  I always use that when making cookies, which helps keep the pan clean as well.

Do you know if you or your husband sprayed them with cooking spray? If they are nonstick sheets and you spray them with cooking spray then put them in the dishwasher they will be ruined.

There are some things I use the silpat for but we like our chocolate chip cookies with some crunch and the silpat doesnt really allow for that.  I cant remember where I got these cookie sheets, but I think it was from my grandparents house after they died, so who knows their history.  I think I'll just go get some more soon.

I usually just cover the cookie sheet with tinfoil and that still lets them get crispy - maybe try that?
