Pregnant after a Loss

Finally feel like I can do this--Ask a new mom!

I'm finally feeling "experienced" enough to offer my advice. So, ask away! :)

  • First of all, congratulations! I've been gone and missed the birth announcement of your precious baby. ?

What 3 items have been the most helpful to you so far?

What were things like physically for you in the 24 hours after labor?

  • Are you Breastfeeding?

If so, when did you start pumping or have you yet or do you plan to at all?

  • Is there anything that you'd decided you were or weren't going to do in labor or at home, that you've had to/chosen to switch? Aside from the c/s that is!

    Thank you!!

The 3 things that have been most helpful have definitely been my boppy pillow (I had a c/s and really helped when it hurt to hold him), kiddopotamus Swaddleme's (GREAT for helping to get him calmed down for bedtime), and Soothies pacifiers. They are the only pacifiers he will take, and they really help when he just wants to suck for comfort.

The first 24 hrs were a little rough, but I had a c/s. I was able to walk about 14 hrs later, and was up and taking a shower the next morning, but I was pretty sore.

I am not breastfeeding. I chose not to for personal reasons--it just wasn't for me. I feel like BF'ing is one of those things that you really can only do if your heart is 100% in it, and mine just wasn't. It was more important for mealtime to be a bonding time with my baby and not a chore. I am happy with my decision, especially since my LO has recently had some issues with his digestive system and FF has made it a lot easier on both him and me as far as his recovery.

Hmm...that's a tough one! Not really. I decided that I would pretty much go with the flow and do whatever needed to be done to make sure that both baby and I were healthy. I think this was one of the best decisions I made--having a laid back attitude. If you go into it thinking it HAS  to go this way or that, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment. I also know that I'm the type of person that if things don't go my way, I just kind of give up easily and do what works best so this was the way to go for me!
