We had our gender scan and found out were team blue! Also I found out I have an anterior placenta. Does anyone also have this or has anyone had any previous experiences with this?
I have an anterior placenta too. This is my first pregnancy, so I don't have any perspective, but from what I hear I may have felt the baby later than if the placenta was posterior, and the movements may be less strong feeling. I'm ok with it because I AM feeling the baby, but wouldn't mind if it were a little more frequent!
I had one my last pregnancy. Its not really anything to be concerned about. Nothing will go differently in your pregnancy if everything goes as it should. Some women say they can't feel baby as soon b/c of it, I didn't even know I had an anterior placenta until 33wks and I started feeling DD#1 move at around 15wks....where an anterior placenta does come into concern is if your baby is breech. My daughter was, and the doc couldn't do an aversion ( manually turning the baby from the OUTSIDE) because it could have caused a placental abruption. Also if you've had a prior C-sec ( i did) and the placenta attaches to the scar. Other than those scenarios I can't think of anything else to be concerned about!
Yep - found out at 18 week U/S. Dr. said nothing to worry about and no monitoring is required. I don't think it's the case with the majority of pregnancies but definitely not uncommon.
I have an anterior placenta. As everyone said, the doctors said it's nothing to worry about. The only thing is you may not feel movement as early. I noticed that while everyone was talking about feeling "flutters" and stuff, I felt nothing. I pretty much felt nothing until 21 weeks (I had like one time at 19 or 20 weeks where I thought I felt a couple of taps, but that was it) when I went from feeling nothing to straight up kicks! And the same day I felt the kicks, my hubby could feel them from the outside. So besides when you feel movement, I believe everything else is the same pregnancy wise as people who have posterior ones.
For me, Baby A has a posterior placenta and Baby B has an anterior placenta. My doctor has said it is not a concern to have an anterior placenta. I do feel Baby A move more than Baby B. When I feel Baby B, it is just little flutters but Baby A's movements feel more like kicks and I feel them more often.
Re: Anterior Placenta Anyone?
Congrats on your baby boy!
