short and sweet birth turned into long and scary

Well this morning the pediatrician comes into our room and tells us that Jonathan tested positive for GBS+.  Since my labor was so quick, there was not enough time to get adequate antibiotics into my system so he did not have the protection.

He was admitted to the Nicu today.  We found out tommorrow how long the stay will be. Thank God that this hospital has a program called couplet care which allows us to room in together so he never has to leave our side (except when they put all the IVs in etc).  I can't imagine it any other way.  There were so many other babies in the NICU and it was just heartwrenching to see them all.  I have such a newfound appreciation for parents who have to go through this and who don't have the rooming in option because their hospital doesn't offer it or because their baby is too sick.

Anyways, keep us in your prayers.  I'll update when I know more.

    Congrats on your new son!  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  I am confident that everything will be just fine and you will have you baby boy home very soon.

    Lindsey, I am sorry to hear that Jonathan's arrival brought some unwanted surprises.  Luckily you will get to keep him close and have the dr's there to watch over his progress.  Good luck to you all and congrats on your newest addition.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.
