Nurseries and Baby Gear

Did you register for baby toys?

If so, what did you pick?  I can't decide if I should put toys on the registry.  I did put a Leap Frog Learn and Grove Musical Table on there as well as a few other little things.

Re: Did you register for baby toys?

  • I didn't.  DD didn't really use toys until 4 months and even then it was closer to 6 months before she really got into anything.  I wasn't having that big of a shower, so I only registered for stuff I'd need for the first 3 months.

DD liked the booties with the rattles, little rattles, links, FP toolbench, FP Jumperoo, FP Birdbath, and mostly little things that she can hold easily.  She has no interest in stuffed animals or big toys that do not make noise.  She loves balls and blocks.

DD was born in April too and I was waiting for Christmas to get her an activity table, a ride on toy, and other stuff like that.

  • I put a few (very few) on my registry but I kept it to newborn or the 0+ toys ..
  • The table won't be used until at least 6 months if not until later.

We did basic newborn toys 0-3 month type things. By the time your LO is old enough for an activity table, there will probably be something better out anyway.

  • I put little rattles (like the sassy toys) and such.  Not so much big toys.  BUT my SIL got a lot of toys including the FP laugh and learn table, a tool bench and the Leap Frog discovery ball at her shower.  Some were on the registry and some were not.

I say go for it, your kid will use it eventually you know?

  • One of my friends that recently had a baby recommended that I did register for toys. She completely forgot about it and one day when her LO one about 4 months she all of a sudden realized she had nothing. I would definitely put them on the registry - you might have to store them for a while, but at least you will have them when its time. In addition the one thing I would definitely register for is Sophie the Giraffe - apparently it is the hottest baby toy right now. One of the boutiques near my house has already reordered their stock three time since they came in just a few months ago.

  • I think it's a good idea to put a few toys on the registry.

We registered for a few 0-3 month toys (rattles, jiggery pals, BE fabric blocks), a few 6+ toys (BE piano, rubbery blocks), and one 12+ toy (electronic "guitar").  We received all the toys we registered for, too.

  • the only toys i put on my registry were crib toys like the busy box and a musical mirror. there were also wrist rattles that i put on too.
  • I did at the instruction of my friends who already have children. This was their advice:

    Stroller clip on toys
    Car seat clip on toys
    Bath Toys
Tummy time play mat/large activity mat for floor
Clip on Crib toy with lights and music
    Crib mobile
