2nd Trimester

Horrible Acne!!!

I am at the point where I cannot take it anymore. I look so terrible that I don't even want to look in a mirror. Anyone have this problem? I am wondering if a dermatologist can help or if that would be pointless since it is hormonal changes. If anyone has any experience with dermatologists or found some magical facewash please let me in on it! THANKS!

Re: Horrible Acne!!!

  • I have been using Clinique and I feel that mine is a bit better.....not as before, but better. HTH!! Hang in there :)

  • I have seriously used every single thing and am in the care of a dermatologist.  Mine won't go away.  Seriously I challenge anyone to give me something I have not tried.  The 2 things that seem to have helped the most (but seriously I still look like a freak) are erythromycin oral antibiotic - seems to have helped with the cystic part, and apple cider vinegar, both a few tablespoons in tea orally and all over my face.  That has helped dry it up a bit and it hurts less.
  • Welcome to the club!!  I've finally got my face somewhat under control but my back and shoulders are a another story.  It's worse then when we were teens!

  • Funny, I was just coming on here to leave a post asking for acne advice.  My chin looks disgusting and it hurts!!!  Please fellow bumpies...  leave any suggestions you might have...  I am willing to try anything.  I do have some apple cider vinegar in my fridge so I may test that out today.  It's getting worse, not better, and I thought acne like all annoying pg signs miraculously disappeared during 2nd tri - someone lied to me.  Wink

  • Belli - this stuff has saved me. I use it w/ Booth's tea tree spray toner and neutrogena oil free moisturizer w/ spf. my skin isn't perfect, but it looks better than it has in 6 months, and I've tried EVERYTHING (Clinique, Cetaphil, Proactiv, mild things, strong things...). It's $22 and so worth it.

  • My face got terrible at the beginning of the second trimester, but it has started to clear up significantly in the past few weeks. I still break out, but not as bad as it was for the first few weeks of the 2nd tri. My doctor wouldn't write me a script and told me to go to a dermatologist, she also said benzoyl peroxide products are safe during pregnancy. I didn't feel like trying to fit yet another dr's appt into my schedule so I bought clean and clear benzoyl peroxide cream and use it in a thin layer on my forehead and chin (where I seem to break out) at night. It is working well overall. Only complaints are that it can make my skin dry and that I have to use an old pillow case at night bc it can bleach certain fabrics. However, it's inexpensive and you can get it at any drug store. Good luck, hope it gets better soon, I know how much it sucks!

I just started using Belli face wash, too. Someone on this board recommended it. I think it's helping, but it's a little soon to tell since I just got it this week. I'm right there with you with the breakouts. It's depressing.

I am using this too!  Mine is better.....but not great :(

  • My NP prescribed clindamycin - I had cystic acne. It's about 90% better, but every once in a while I'll get a cyst along my jawline. I use a gentle face wash, then the clindamycin, and then a face cream. Every other night I use a wash cloth to exfoliate, too. With a little make-up on my face looks pretty clear. Hope this helps!
