2nd Trimester

Flutters, then no flutters-Not even sure it's baby! Thoughts?

Just wondering for those who have felt the flutters, did you have a few days where you went without feeling any at all? I had a very fluttery day on Th and haven't felt anything since.

I feel like it's also a little early for me to be feeling anything so I am not 100% convinced I am feeling the baby, but the feeling is similar to having an eye twitch, or even like subtle vibration.

Re: Flutters, then no flutters-Not even sure it's baby! Thoughts?

  • Yes, that is completely normal.  Babycenter.com says that you can definitely feel a lot one day, and then feel nothing the next.  Especially since you are so early.

The way that I started realizing that it was actually the baby moving (and not gas pains or something similar) is that the movement was way down low (where you wouldn't get gas pains).  I am 19 weeks and just in the past couple of days have started feeling the baby move everyday.  Before then, I would only feel the baby every couple of days.  Good luck!  Its lots of fun when you start feeling them all the time.

  •  Thanks for your response-I can't wait to start feeling the baby regularly. And KNOW it's the baby :)

  • Very normal, as you progress the movements will become more consistent.

  • When do you feel the baby? When you are sitting still or when you are moving? I haven't felt anything yet but I haven't sat long enough to see if I feel anything.

At my doctors appointment on Wednesday, while we were listening to the heartbeat the NP pointed out when the baby would kick and she asked if I could feel it. I couldn't.

  • It's early, just wait.
  •  Usually it's when I am sitting and it's later in the day like 3-4pm. I did feel it Th standing too...But again, I still am not convinced it's the baby...it stood out to me b/c I am looking for it...but it easily could be digestion too. The only thing was, it was a little lower....Soon enough, we will KNOW its the baby.

My Dr said not to really expect anything until closer to 20 weeks so that made me feel better.

  • I have felt little twinges but not very regularly.  It may be baby or may not be, I am looking forward to being able to tell for sure!

  • At 15 weeks I started feeling flutters, then a week would go by an I wouldn't feel anything. Then the flutters progressed to twitches. I'd have those for a couple days straight then nothing.  I'm 19 weeks now and the twitches are still occuring, randomly, not on a daily basis.  I know it's the baby because it is very down low. I can't wait to feel kicks!

  •  Thanks for your post-I cannot wait to feel kicks either! :) I like your ultrasound image with the Christmas lights in your signature.

  • I bet it's the baby!  How exciting!

I'm paying close attention to the normal rumblings of my tummy and haven't noticed anything yet!

  •  Oh yay! How fun and exciting if it has been and I have kind of been excusing it. GOOD to know your flutters fluctuated too....Now I am really dying to feel that little cell phone go off again....

    imageSpring Mommy:
yes i definitely went days without feeling any flutters at all. what you are describing is definitely the same feelings I felt. :) (like a tiny cell phone vibrating inside for a second.)
  •  Hi there! I meant to update you on our apt...everything is just fine we heard the HB at a solid 150. I seriously have NO symptoms to speak of, so hope that makes you feel better (besides what i think are flutters which have quieted since Th).

  • Congratulations on a good appt!!  I've been looking on for your posts for an update.  I am very asympomatic as well, but as the pregnancy progresses and things keep going well, I believe maybe we are the lucky ones!

We have an exciting month ahead of us, seems like this is when things really start happening--we'll feel movement and get "certifiable" bumps, I'm SOO looking forward to it.

  •  YES we do! I am looking so forward to the reassurance that comes with consistent little movements and kicks. Also very excited for a distinguish bump :) I'll continue looking for your posts esp after you next apt which is soon! BTW, our big u/s is Jan 18th!
