I remember doing this in preschool and we all took turns shaking a jar for what seemed like hours. But I love butter and this is something I would totally do.
Added bonus: the resulting buttermilk tastes fabulous in biscuits!
FYI- for cake frosting- use heavy cream and "little- to taste" sugar . It is awesome! Much better than the ready made frosting.

Please Lord, I love this baby already, we are ready when You are.
lol, when I make butter with my preschoolers at thanksgiving, I always make extra for the staff. I also make whipped cream for them too, or as I call it "Two shakes before butter"
DELISH.
Little Man (4 years old---holy cow) He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
Re: Just for shyts and giggles...
How did you do it?

Is it wrong that I am sitting here with no idea how one makes butter?
Sounds yummy, as anything relating to butter is wont to do.
Heavy cream + blender on low speed for several minutes.
This is a "recipe" but it's really just cream and salt.

Omg. I am going to do this right now.
That is so neat! I am doing this when the family arrives - they will be suitably impressed with me. Which is what Chrismas is all about, of course.
Thank you for sharing!
Oh, PS: If you can get organic cream, it really does taste better.
I have a great recipe for that, too, actually. It makes three loaves (or one loaf, a dozen rolls, and a dozen cinnamon rolls, haha.)

I made homemade garlic butter a few weeks ago.
We ate it in like 3 days.
