2nd Trimester

did anyone have to see a cardiologist for this reason?

i feel like i'm goint to be alone on this one, but had a dr. appt. yesterday.  they did an ffn test on me b/c of all the bh i'm having (haven't gotten results, which is probably good news).  but they want to send me to a cardiologist b/c i told her that usually how i know i'm going to have one is b/c my chest gets really tight and feels like it's being crushed.  my midwife consulted w/one of the ob's and they both agreed i should go.  i'm not really worried at all, i would actually think it had more to do with my lungs.  she said it's really unusual and she's never heard that before.  she said usually it's the other way around: people get a b/h and then they have a little anxiety b/c of it (not sure i buy that completely).

my bigger concern is that when i have real contractions this will happen...the more intense the b/h, the more intense the crushing feeling, so that scares me a little if that is going to happen when i have the real thing.  i hope not!  i can't breathe and that's not a good time to not be able to breathe.

anyway, sorry this got so long.  just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing something like this.  thanks.

Re: did anyone have to see a cardiologist for this reason?

  • I haven't experienced what you're talking about with my pregnancy, but I have a history of arrhythmia. Mine is stress-induced and what I had to learn to manage it is to relax while it's happening and ride it out. i know that sounds like a hard thing to do, especially when you can't breathe, but just try to find that relaxed place or thought and you can make it through (they may happen less and be shorter). Hope this helps!
