So are these contractions? BH? something else?

So I've had a few "contractions" In the last 40 minutes or so. None longer than 30 seconds and anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes apart.

When I saw contraction, the sensation I'm feeling is like a tightening wave around my middle and lower abdomen, building to a peak of very minor pain and then easing off. 

It was happening while I was lying down, so I got up to see if that made a difference and they seemed to stop so I got back into bed and they started again.

So now I'm up and feeling nothing, beyond a little vague tightness.

So BH? Or real contractions? Do I need to ring my midwife? it's 12.30am so I don't want to wake her for nothing but at the same time I don't want to ignore something that should be attended to as I'm only 36 weeks.

Thoughts?

Sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions. I wouldnt worry unless they became very regular and didnt stop.

From my understanding BH can be alleviated by changing positions, regular contractions cannot.

I've had a lot of BH at night lately, and my dr believes it's because I'm not drinking enough water. Have 5 glasses of water and lay on your left side- if they're not the real deal they will subside.
