So...this has been plaguing me for several weeks now.

I have no idea how many weeks along I am. 

I know, that sounds ridiculous.  But lets say I'm 13 weeks and 4 days.  Some sites say I'm 13 weeks (like thebump) and some say I'm 14 weeks.

So how many weeks am I?

I know, I'm an idiot, I'm rolling my eyes at myself as I type.

When was your last missed period? On that day you would be 4 weeks unless you know when you ovulated by charting.

They round up sometimes. When someone asks me that has kids/has knowledge of pregnancy, I say "Almost 14 weeks" in your situation, if it's someone who is dealing with months, then I divide by 4. "I'm 3 1/2 months" = even though it's not really accurate.

It's a personal thing.

Depending on the site, some go by how many weeks you've completed while others go by what week you're in.   13w4d means you are 4 days into your 14th week.

I count from my last period.  Or if you've had an ultrasound they should have told you how far along you are.

Thank you, Jess60, perfect, this is the answer I'm looking for.  So basically, there is no right answer.  Some round up, some round down.

Phew, seriously, you have no idea how much this has bothered me.

I count how many full weeks i have completed. For example, i would say tomorrow i am 24 weeks, 6 months going into my 7th.

It's like your birthday. Your 25th birthday means you have completed 25 years. You are starting your 26th year.

But if someone asks you how old you are, you say "25". This is how pregnancy is too. Even though you're in your 14th week of pregnancy, you've completed 13 weeks and therefore are 13 weeks.

Months work the same way. I, for example, am 5 months since I have completed 5 months of pregnancy (as of 22 weeks). I am in my 6th month of pregnancy but I am 5 months pregnant.

The bump rounds up for me every Saturday.  Not sure if that's because on Saturdays I'm however many weeks and 4 days or if they round everyone up on Saturdays.  So, even though the bump will say that I'm 20 weeks on Saturday, I'm technically 19 weeks, 4 days since my last menstrual cycle began on Tuesday, August 4.  Does that help?

My answer varies based on where I am in the week. For example, if I am 15w1d, 2d, or 3d, I usually say I am "15 weeks along". If I am 15w4d, 5d, or 6d, then I round up and say "16 weeks".

If, before I was pregnant, asked someone how far along they were and they said something like "I am in my 15th week"...I might be a tad confused b/c I honestly dont hear that often.

There really isnt a right or wrong answer though!

When you're 13 weeks + 4 days, you are working up to your 14th week and are 4/7 of the way done.  So, it'd be like saying that 13 weeks 7 days=14 weeks 0 days.

So, you are 13 weeks and 4 days. You are 13 weeks pregnant, but are in your 14th week. Think of it in the way you describe your age.

 Example: I'm turning thirty tomorrow. I've been in my thirtieth year ever since my 29th birthday (when I concluded my 29th year of life), but tomorrow I will officially be thirty. Does that make sense?
