Haven't had mine yet, but it will be an u/s tech. They will print out certain things for my chart and doctor and he'll chat about it. They're looking for all sorts of measurements.
Just got home from mine! The tech did it. It took about 30 min. She looked at every part of the baby. Fingers, toes, measured leg and arm bones, measured the skull, checked out the abdomen, spine, and internal organs. Listened to the heartbeat and did measurements on the umbilical cord, my placenta, the fluid, and my cervix. Showed us the profile, feet, and hands, but I think this was more for us that for medical reasons. She also told us when to close our eyes so we wouldn't know the gender.
I think it can be done by either but mine was done by a US technician. She just basically looked at all the big stuff... spine, kidneys, heart, umbilical cord and it's blood flow, arms, legs, abdomen, face, gender and I'm sure there's a ton of other stuff I'm forgetting. It didn't take *that* long... like an hour?
