Baby clothes

I want to wash the baby's clothes, but I don't have the scent free detergent. How bad is it to just wash them in regular detergent if neither me or DH have sensitive skin? My son never seemed to be bothered by clothes that I washed in reg detergent either. I did use the baby detergent when he was first born, so I'm just curious what you ladies think. Should I go buy some special detergent or just go for it and wash these clothes with my reg.
Effing crazy people.

Re: Baby clothes

  • I've heard both things.  A lot of people don't use scent-free but... you go through so little of it since you can put a huge amount of baby's clothes in one load, I'd go get some.

I got Kirkland brand's (Costco) Free and Clear.

  • I see no reason not to. If you see a skin irritation, you can wash the clothes again in the good stuff.
  • With shorty's help I made my own detergent and I love it. Im not exactly sure how important it is not to use the regular stuff....maybe better safe than sorry

    DD #1 Alba Gray

    Baby #4- coming in May

  • My sister and SIL both use any detergent, which is usually the cheaper scented stuff. They and none of my nephews (newborn- 6 years old) have never had a problem with it. Wash the cloths with whatever you want and if the baby is having skin issues then wash the cloths with something different.
