Hi ladies! So I've been a devoted follower since the first tri boards! I've followed all of my bumpie friends thru their ups and downs, and read tons horror stories of labor and delivery!!! STOP FREAKING YOURSELVES OUT!!! Everyone is different... get this,
I was due December 10th with my beautiful baby girl! Went to the doctor for my 37 week check-up to find out that I was already 2 cm dialated. They following week was Thanksgiving so she set me up for Monday rather than Wednesday for my 38 week appt, so I would actually only be 37wks 4 dys. So excited when I left there! Carried on with my weekend, went to a fall festival with friends and walked a lot! Started having some cramps (contractions) but they were like 15 mins apart and weren't that bad! No worries! Went home and put my feet up and used it as an excuse to let my hubs pamper me, nice... very nice! Sunday I went to a baby shower and listened to all the professional moms tell me that I'd be at 2 cm for at least 2 or 3 weeks and that I'd probably even go late! Awesome, thanks for the advice Dr. Moms!
Went to the doctor on Monday to find out that my water could break at anytime, she said I'd be easy to induce at this point!! Sooooo excited, but still didn't want to get my hopes up too much! So I rushed home and made sure my hospital bag was completed packed and ready! Tuesday I didn't do a whole lot other than going to Target to grab some last minute stuff for the house! It was a pretty uneventful day!
Wednesday, November 25th... 2 weeks & 1 day before my due date!
8am- I woke up and rolled out of bed to go pee... and then my water broke! Ahhhhh! I'm one of those people that knew they'd need something obvious to hapen for me to realize that it was time! This was the obvious sign I was looking for! So I called my hubs, who was working about 30 minutes from the house, he somehow got home in 15 minutes?? While I waited for him, I washed my face and prepped myself, made the bed, took the hospital bag and pillows to the door, laid out my hubs outfit, and let the dogs out! I felt fine!!! When he got there, we headed to the hospital! Ahhh, what an exciting ride : ) The reality finally set in!
9am- We arived at the hospital and headed for Triage. Got all checked in and changed into a gown. When the nurse checked me, she said I was 4cm, so they prepped me to go to labor and delivery. I'll refer to her as "my nurse"!
10:45am- Got to Labor & Delivery and a nurse arrived that would be there through the whole thing! She was sooo nice! They called in another nurse to start my IV. Then my nurse checked me again and told me I was 4.5cm. She called my doctor who decided to go ahead and start me on potocin (sp)! So, my next question was... when should I get the epidural??? She told me to let her know when I was in REAL pain! Like a 9 on a scale of 1-10. I wasn't really feeling that bad at all, so I didn't want to rush it! She told me it tool about a half hour to kick in so don't be shy, LOL!
11:45am- I started to feel the contractions a little more and had one really strong one, so my nurse adviced me not to wait much longer. So we called in the Epidural! I had it by 12pm and slowly started feeling good! The worst contraction I had was while I was bent over getting the epidural (which by the way was not nearly as bad as everyone tells you)!! My nurse told mwe I'd probably have the baby sometime between 3pm & 5pm! Now it was time to wait!
12:30pm- I started feeling some pressure "down there" so I told my nurse. She checked me again and said, OH... we need to call your doctor! Apparently between the time I got the epidural at 12pm and 12:30pm I went from 4.5cm to 9cm! HOLY CRAP! My doctor was there in no time and I started pushing at 12:44pm, after 4 pushes and a pause to cut the cord that was wrapped around her arm and neck I had my baby girl at 12:58pm! Yes, you read right... 14 minutes and 4 pushes!
By 1:30pm I was doing her first feding and 24 hours later we were on our way home!!! All of the nurses had heard about my delivery before I even made it to my room! They told me it might not be a good idea to tell my friends how easy I had it, LOL!
It's been 3 weeks now since I had Mila Alicja (pronounced Meela Aleetcya), and life is good!!! She sleeps on average 5-7 hours at night with an occasional 8 hour night to spoil was challenging at first, so we were forced to supplement with formula. If nothing else, I've learned to forgoet everything you've heard and realize that your baby is different than everyone elses, and ultimately you have to do what works for your family!! So realx, and get ready for the ride! It's amazing and emotional! Good Luck Girls!!
Much Mommy Love!!!
