2nd Trimester

Does anyone else hate the be-band!?

Yikes! I have a pretty normal thin, athletic build, and haven't changed a lot thus far in pregnancy - but I cannot stand wearing the thing!  It feels lumpy over my jeans and with dress pants I'm always worried i'll catch the end of pants and loose them because the be-band isn't a full waist and dress pants are slick underneath.

I wanted to wear my cute jeans....but it's so uncomfortable I just stick to the few pairs I can still button.

Anyone else feel this way? Or am I the lone preggo who despises the thing? :)

  • I love love love mine.

  • HATED mine.  Never worked for me.  I gained too low or something and anytime I wore it, I was just stressed out.

  • I hated it, but for different reasons. My stomach is super sensitive and I can't stand anything pressing on it. The be-band was just always too tight for me. Same with any maternity pants except the secret fit full panel ones. The pressure makes me insane.
  • I like mine.

Are you putting the beband on first then putting your jeans on over it and then folding it over?

  • Have you tucking one end in your pants and folding it over to help keep your pants up?

OR... you can go for the maternity pants and use the be-band over them to help keep them up.  That's what I'm doing (but I can no longer zip or button my pre-preg pants.)

  • I despise it.  I hate that it always rolls around and the back of my pants always slide out of it.  However, we have like no maternity clothes shopping where I live. I just now got around to ordering something online and who knows if it will actually fit.  Until I figure something else out I will continue to wear it everyday.
  • I didn't like mine either. I just returned it and bought bigger jeans at Platos Closet.

I do this and it helps a lot.

  • HATE IT!!!!!  I would rather spend all day pulling my maternity pants up that contantly feel like my underwear is falling down or that the belly band is rolling up.  I have been solely in maternity pants except a few pairs of jeans that still fit for the last 2 weeks.

  • I'm only good for about half the day, but longer than that i HATE it.
  • I liked it ok at first, but now that I got a pair of secret fit from Kohl's I hate the bella band. I was always messing with mine cause I was so afraid it was going to bunch up and someone would see my underware or something! Now I just have to keep pulling up my jeans cause my butt hasn't really gotten any bigger yet!
  • I hated mine until a few weeks ago. Now that I am actually showing and not just in the middle stage it works really well. I still have to adjust it every now and again but over all I like it.
  • I hate mine too. I tried hard to love it...I wore it under my jeans folded over like everyone says but it still shifted around on me and I always felt like I had lumps under my shirts because of the thing. I just started wearing maternity pants with the over the belly panels early on and I usually wear a stretchy cami with them to help hold them up. Fun times! : )
  • Are you wearing it correctly? You can't just pull it on over your pants.

You have to put the band on first, then pull your jeans up over TOP of the band. Fold the top half of the band down over your jeans. It doesn't slip or move around this way. I can leave my jeans completely buttoned and unzipped and have no problems.

I love my secret fit pants from Kohl's!  They look like normal dress pants but are so comfortable.  I really feel like they will last the whole pregnancy!

  • I hated mine. The whole using it for unbuttoned pants was really uncomfortable...so I just wore the same pair of jeans for 3 weeks (the only ones I had that fit). I have a slim build and normally not much of a waist..and my pre-preggo pants were mostly low rise, so that may be why.

In the last week or two though I've really liked having it over the top of my maternity pants (to keep them up) and  covering my belly, though. The extra support feels really good as my belly expands and it covers the gap btwn shirt and pants for some of my pre-preggo tops.

  • Hate it- never worked for me. I have really wide hips and a much smaller waist, so the thing would roll up no matter how I wore it. So I said screw it and started wearing maternity jeans at 11 weeks...

  • I never even bothered to try it, it looked so uncomfortable to me. I hate having tight things around my stomach...once I grew out of my regular jeans a couple weeks ago I switched right over to maternity pants.

  • I love mine.  The trick for me is to wear half of the band between my skin and the pants, and the other half folded over the top.  It helps keep the pants in place much better that way, and would probably help you if you're wearing pants that are "slick" underneath.

ETA:  sorry, I hadn't read the prior responses suggesting the same thing.

  • Yup...I hated it or something similar.  I don't think my was the be-band brand.  I have been in maternity pants for awhile becasue all my other pants were getting just too uncomfortable.  I bought the thing in the hopes of having my reg. pants last a little longer.  Put it on and immediately took it off.  It was restrictive and felt really tight on my stomach.  Maybe I bought the wrong size or something but I just went out and bought too big maternity pants.  I would rather spend the money on maternity pants, that will hopefully, cross your fingers, last me the whole pg than spend money on bigger reg. pants.

I wear it just over my pants and it works ok. The back of my pants sometimes pops out when I'm sitting down. Sometimes I do the folded over thing but that's when it feels bulky to me. I do wear it that way sometimes though.

ETA: I also use a rubberband around the button to sorta hold my pants a little more securely.

  • I'm not a fan either. The material is too thin and I don't like that I can see my button from my unbuttoned pants through it. I wear long tanks on top but it still bulks out.

  • I hated mine too and even posted about it back during the first tri, but trust me, you will end up loving it.  I use it now for extra support or for a pair of my maternity jeans that get big as they stretch out throughout the day and I use them for my khakis that require a belt (they fit low, no panel) and a belt is just too uncomfortable these days.  I thought it was a complete waste of money, but I wear it a lot now.  It's so much more comfortable than it used to be.  Once you start getting a belly, give it another try!
  • I hated it.  I have a little fluff in the middle and when I sat down wearing it, it would roll down and I just found it very uncomfortable for me.

  • Hated it! My zipper would come down or the damn band would ride up. I bought maternity pants just so I wouldn't have to mess with that thing. My maternity pants are super comfy a little loose when I bend over but much better than the beband!
