Cholestasis of Pregnancy??

Hi ladies!  I posted this over on 3rd tri, but decided to post it here too.  I have had some horrible all over itching the last couple days so I decided to put a call in to the Dr this morning.  I explained to him what was going on.  He said right away that he knew what it was.  Tells me it's Cholestasis of Pregnancy.  Something to do with you liver.  Tells me usually, depending on how far along you are, he would deliver, but I'm not ready yet.  So he tells me to take two benedryl and if it doesn't work by tomorrow to let him know because then he will have to give me some sort of steroid.  He tells me it's normal and he's seen it before.  Ok, fine, thank you!  I will let you know how it goes!  So, then of course, I go online to look it up!  Maybe a bad idea!  It seems to not be too normal, only occuring in 1-2 out of 1000 pgs!  It doesn't seem to be too good to have!  Especially for the baby!  Now I'm starting to freak out!  Anyone ever hear of this or know anything about it?  Thanks!!

My BFF had this during her pregnancy.  She was so incredibly itchy.  Everything turned out fine for her and now she has a beautiful daughter.   I'm sure things will turn out just fine for you.  Just make sure to tell your doctor if anything about it changes or worsens.  Good luck!  Hang in there!

So sorry you are feeling icky Deedee! I have heard of this but only on A Baby Story. It didn't seem serious, just uncomfortable for mom. It went away right after delivery. Maybe the benadryl/steroids will help.
