finally drinking enough water

I started to buy those little flavor packets to put in my water and it is doing wonders! I'm so glad I started doing that because now I'm hooked on it and the water is going down like it should. I bought ones that are made with splenda, have 0 calories, and have 100% vitamin C and am just loving it. Had to share how much it's helping me since I know some of your are struggling with drinking water too.

Re: finally drinking enough water

  • So Splenda is okay while pregnant?  I know that artificial sweeteners with aspartame are not good for baby, but don't know anything about Splenda. Thanks for the info.

I read that Splenda is ok, in moderation of course, just like anything else. You're right about aspartame though- try to stay away from it.

How is SPLENDA? Brand Sweetener made?

SPLENDA? is the brand name for the ingredient sucralose. It is made through a patented, multi-step process that starts with sugar and converts it to a no calorie, non-carbohydrate sweetener. The process selectively replaces three hydrogen-oxygen groups on the sugar molecule with three chlorine atoms. Chlorine is present naturally in many of the foods and beverages that we eat and drink every day ranging from lettuce, mushrooms and table salt. In the case of sucralose, its addition converts sucrose to sucralose, which is essentially inert. The result is an exceptionally stable sweetener that tastes like sugar, but without sugar's calories. After consumption, sucralose passes through the body without being broken down for energy, so it has no calories, and the body does not recognize it as a carbohydrate.

Can women who are pregnant or nursing use SPLENDA? or products with SPLENDA? Brand Sweetener?

Yes. The FDA has approved the use of sucralose (or SPLENDA? Brand Sweetener) for the general population and imposed no restrictions on its consumption by pregnant women and nursing mothers. SPLENDA? No Calorie Sweetener may be used as part of a healthy prenatal and postnatal diet.
